I'm a psychiatrist, bestselling author of the book Let Your Heart Out: How to Escape Your Thoughts and Reconnect with the Most Important Part of Yourself, host of the Let Your Heart Out podcast, speaker, and mother of two. I created the HEART Method to help individuals improve their mental health, uncover their unconscious, escape their thoughts, and reconnect with their hearts.
My most recent creation is the HEART personality assessment: the first-ever personality test specifically for entrepreneurs and creatives.
(Have you taken the quiz yet? Can't wait to hear what you think. 😉)
You may know me as a board certified psychiatrist and women's mental health expert. But did you know that I've been an entrepreneur since I was 10 years old?! #TrueStory
From direct sales to hospital administration and product creation to knowledge commerce, I've done A LOT in business over the past 2 decades. In fact, I still have a bustling private psychiatric practice in San Antonio, TX.
Not too long ago, I was struggling to make a sale in my own online business. It wasn't until I put my shrink cap on that I was able to see the holes in my business and finally start making a profit.
If there's one thing I'm certain of, it's this: to be successful selling your knowledge online, you must understand human behavior.
If you can't get inside the mind of your customers (and more importantly, get inside your own mind), you will never make money. Period.
And that, my friend, is where I come in!

I'm a Texas gal born and bred who married an active duty Army officer who took me thousands of miles away from my family a few months before the birth of my first baby and right in the middle of my hardest year of medical school.
So, in the absolute toughest year of my life, my idealistic drive to become a doctor was challenged. And I became interested in other ways to make an income for my family... that didn't require 80-hour workweeks, night shifts, and weekend call.
As such, my story goes that I became a doctor to help people. I became a psychiatrist to hear people's stories. (But it wasn't until recently that I realized my true life's calling has been business all along... keep reading.)
When I hit rock bottom from postpartum depression after my daughter was born in 2013, I knew I needed to make a change.
I began seeing the field of medicine with fresh eyes, and I knew that I didn't want to be a doctor for the rest of my life. I wanted to explore all parts of myself. I needed to find MY HEART.
So, I drank the 4-hour-work week kool-aid. I began listening to countless online marketing podcasts and bought thousands of dollars worth of online courses teaching me everything from prioritizing my life, increasing productivity and building my digital empire.
All while finishing my medical residency in psychiatry and raising two little humans, mind you.
Before solidifying my own personal brand, I did many things in the online business space.
Shrink Eats Food, a food blog ... but I never posted a single recipe. Ever.
Chicks in Medicine, a lifestyle website for women in medicine... but I didn't enjoy what I was doing.
Push Past Postpartum, a virtual program helping women overcome postpartum depression and anxiety... but I wasn't making any money.
and most recently, Not the Typical Mom™, a lifestyle brand to help moms escape the stereotypes and find their real selves so they can kill it in life, love and business... but I didn't like the direction my business was taking.
From everything I've learned... if you want to be successful in business, you have to be you. But as easy as that sounds, I know in practice, it's super duper difficult.
Now, I've taken 2 of my greatest passions-- business + psychology--and crafted a personality test to identify your unique strengths so that you can kill it in your business!
I'd love to connect with you further.
