Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Do you accept insurance? No, I am not an in-network provider for insurance plans. I am able to provide much more thorough, personalized, and compassionate care without the time stipulations invoked by insurance plans. Read this blog post for my full reasoning.
  2. Do you offer virtual sessions? Yes, I do! I provide virtual options for patients in Texas or Virginia who are unable or unwilling to come to my office directly. I use a software called Zoom, which is HIPAA compliant.
  3. Where are you located? My office recently moved! I am now located in the Starpoint Building at 13062 Hwy 290 West, Austin, TX 78737. The office building is across the street from the main entrance to Belterra.
  4. Are you a Christian? I treat individuals from all faiths and backgrounds, but I do personally identify as a Christian. While I do not provide Biblical counseling or the sort, my faith does likely inform my practice, because it is important to me as an individual.
  5. Do you provide therapy? Yes, I do! I even created my own therapy modality for individuals: The HEART Method®, which is the primary focus of my latest book, Let Your Heart Out. I'm also trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy, insight-oriented therapy, brief psychodynamic therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy, emotionally-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
  6. Do you provide medication management in pregnancy? Yes, I do! We can discuss which options are best in pregnancy and which medications may be unsafe.
  7. Do you treat minors? I treat individuals 12 years and older. Occasionally, I see younger patients on a case by case basis.
  8. Do you treat couples? If I provide individual treatment for one of the members, I will not see the couple. I do, however, provide education and patient advocacy for the family as requested by individual patients.
  9. Do you treat men? Yes, I do! While the majority of my practice is women, I do treat men for a wide range of issues.
  10. Do you treat substance abuse? If substance abuse is co-occurring with other mental illnesses, I will address and treat the substance abuse. However, if substance abuse is the primary problem, I may not be the best provider match for your needs.
